Terms of Service

Effective date: March 1, 2026  ·  Last updated: March 1, 2026

Welcome to VoltHop. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the VoltHop mobile application ("App"), developed by Seungyu Paik ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using VoltHop, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.

1. What VoltHop Is

VoltHop is a platform that connects e-bike riders ("Renters") with people who have spare e-bike batteries available for short-term rental ("Suppliers"). We provide the technology to browse listings, send rental requests, and coordinate pickups. That's it — we are a marketplace, not a battery rental company.

We do not own, inspect, certify, or guarantee any batteries listed on the platform. We do not employ or control any Suppliers. We are not a party to any rental transaction between users.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use VoltHop. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at [email protected].

You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false or misleading information.

4. How the Platform Works

For Suppliers: You can list e-bike batteries by providing details such as bike model compatibility, availability dates, daily price, and a pickup location. You are responsible for ensuring that your listings are accurate and that the batteries you offer are in safe, working condition.

For Renters: You can browse available batteries, view details on a map, and send rental requests to Suppliers. When a Supplier approves your request, you and the Supplier coordinate directly to complete the rental.

Communication: Users communicate through external messaging apps (WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, or SMS). VoltHop does not host, monitor, or store these conversations.

Payments: VoltHop does not currently process payments. All financial transactions happen directly between Renters and Suppliers, outside of the App. We are not responsible for payment disputes between users.

5. User Conduct

When using VoltHop, you agree not to:

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules, at our sole discretion.

6. Limitation of Liability

VoltHop is a platform, not a rental service. We connect Renters with Suppliers but are not responsible for:

To the fullest extent permitted by law, VoltHop and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of the App.

Our total liability for any claim related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, given VoltHop is currently free to use, is $0).

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

VoltHop is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We do not warrant the accuracy or reliability of any content posted by users.

We specifically disclaim any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Assumption of Risk

By using VoltHop, you acknowledge that renting or supplying e-bike batteries involves inherent risks, including but not limited to battery malfunction, incompatibility, or damage. You assume full responsibility for evaluating the safety and suitability of any battery before renting or using it.

You are responsible for complying with all local laws, regulations, and safety guidelines related to e-bike batteries in your area.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Seungyu Paik, VoltHop, and any affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or any transaction between you and another user.

10. Intellectual Property

The VoltHop name, logo, and app design are the property of Seungyu Paik. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the App without prior written permission.

Content you post on VoltHop (listings, photos, profile information) remains yours. However, by posting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display and distribute that content within the App as necessary to provide the service.

11. Account Termination

You can delete your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected].

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or for any other reason at our reasonable discretion. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you, but are not obligated to do so in cases of serious violations.

Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Sections 6 through 9 of these Terms survive termination.

12. Dispute Resolution

Between you and another user: VoltHop does not mediate disputes between Renters and Suppliers. You are responsible for resolving any disagreements directly with the other user.

Between you and VoltHop: If you have a dispute with us, we encourage you to contact us first at [email protected] so we can try to resolve it informally.

If we can't resolve it informally, any legal dispute shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. You agree to resolve disputes through binding arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, rather than in court, except that either party may bring claims in small claims court if eligible. You agree to bring claims only in your individual capacity, not as part of a class action.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the App and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Your continued use of VoltHop after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force. Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not waive that right. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and VoltHop regarding use of the App.
